   | HEADS, FACES & PROFILES 2010 - 2009 BODY IN PART 2009 - 2008 SOLDIERS 2007 | The body, the suggestion of body ,body in part and parts of the body have been important themes in Lemieux’s work for over thirty years. The drawings are often done in books using watercolour, ink or gouache. Figures and gestures range from half an inch to over 5 feet - floating, paired and clustered into families at times different and at times similar– they converse Like the digital drawings, these drawings are also done in layers.Drawings are often folded, painted and layered one overtop the other. Single drawings are also paired and clustered into families sometimes different, sometimes similar to one another. SOLDIERS/SOLDATS - Broken and shamed, the soldiers draw us in. Wounded but standing they remain vulnerable and on guard, facing the same enemy, the same fear and the same direction. They salute and they dance. |
